Hockey
Chennai: The Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) has been cautioned to distance itself from the factions seeking control of the hockey administration in the State. In a letter to the Member-Secretary, SDAT, Mr. K. Murugan, Secretary, Tamil Nadu Olympic Association (TNOA), draws attention to the steps taken by TNOA to resolve the issues and the conclusions drawn by the three-member panel consisting of Walter Dawaran (athletics), C.R. Visswanathan (football) and J.S. Chopra (aquatics). Mr. Murugan stated that the ad hoc committee, now controlling the hockey administration in the country, has decided not to “encourage” either of the two factions for the time being till the apex body (IOA) takes a decision in this regard. It is gathered that the subject came up for discussion during the recent meeting of the IOA at Pune on the eve of the Commonwealth Youth Games. Mr. Murugan said the TNOA is aware of the developments in the State and closely monitoring the situation. He was optimistic that a solution would be found in a month or so.
