Jammu beats Lucknow

HYDERABAD: Jammu defeated Lucknow 2-0 in the boys’ hockey tournament of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan’s 39th National sports meet at the G.M.C. Balayogi stadium here on Wednesday.

In boys’ kho kho, Chandigarh edged out Jammu 18-17 and Kolkata got the better of Jabalpur 15-13. In girls’ handball, Mumbai beat Patna 20-2 while in boys’ tennis Bhopal got the better of Delhi 3-1.

Bhopal chalked up a win in boys’ kabaddi too, beating Kolkata 55-38.

The meet was inaugurated by Rangalal Jamuda, IAS, Commissioner KVS, New Delhi. Dr. (Mrs) V. Vijayalaxmi, Assistant Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Hyderabad region, welcomed the chief guest, dignitaries and contingents from 18 regions of the sangathan.

Athletics: Girls: Under-17: 100m: 1. Priyalata (Patiala); Boys under-19: 800m: Bhupendar Singh (Jhansi).

Srinivas blanks Ujwal

K. Srinivas Rao beat K. Ujwal 6-0 in the boys’ under-14 pre-quarterfinal round of the mini and sub-junior boys’ tennis tournament, organised by YMCA, here on Wednesday.

ZHS Trimulgherry posts win

ZHS Trimulgherry beat Pallavi Model School 2-1 in the Dr. John de Souza Trophy inter-school football tournament here on Wednesday. Shivkumar scored both goals for the winner, while Pranav scored for Pallavi Model School.
