Jamia to probe Atif’s degree

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Jamia Millia Islamia on Wednesday set up an inquiry committee to look into reports that suspected militant Mohammad Atif Amin, who was killed in the Batla House encounter here in the Capital last month, had submitted a fake B.Sc. certificate at the time of his admission to the university.

Atif had enrolled for the first year of M.A. in Human Rights in the Department of Political Science at Jamia on the basis of that certificate.

“In the light of recent Press reports alleging that the B.Sc. certificate from Allahabad University produced by Atif at the time of his admission is fake, Vice-Chancellor Mushirul Hasan has appointed an inquiry committee to look into the matter. It will be headed by Rumki Basu.”
