NEW DELHI: Jawaharlal Nehru University here will host visitors from Pakistan later this month. A team of 25 members comprising nine faculty members and 16 students from Forman Christian College University, Lahore, are scheduled to visit the campus from October 20 to 25. Forman Christian College is a private, chartered university in Lahore. The team is keen on making people-to-people contacts to create an environment of peace and trust between the two neighbours. “The institution had expressed an interest in coming to our campus. They wrote to the authorities here stating that, after which we followed it up,” said Dean of Students’ Welfare V. K. Jain. The team will be given accommodation in JNU campus itself. The members will interact with the facultyand students across the different JNU schools and centres. The visitors are expected to make presentations on a wide range of issues pertaining to the two countries such as educational system, visa policies, mutual economics and trade relations, status of women, cultural cooperation in areas of films, plays and commonalities and youth development. Other activitiesApart from networking with different faculties of JNU, the Pakistani delegation is also likely to visit other universities in the Capital and go sightseeing. “Different JNU schools such as the School of International Studies, School of Social Sciences and various centres under them have been informed about the trip and have been asked to make arrangements for a healthy and fruitful interaction between JNU and Forman Christian College,” said Professor Jain.
