Jaya in two semifinals

NEW DELHI: Jaya Bhandari made it to the semifinals of the girls’ under-14 and 12 sections in the AITA Talent Series junior tennis tournament at the Vasant Kunj Sports Complex, here on Wednesday.

Jaya defeated second seed Sanya Sinha 6-0, 2-6, 6-0 in the u-14 quarterfinals, and ousted the u-12 second seed Jhanvi Gupta 6-3, 7-6(3).

The results: Quarterfinals: Boys: U-14: Dhruv Goel bt Dhruv Pal 6-1, 6-1; Kartik Kannan bt Kene Whourie 3-6, 7-6(5), 7-6(4); Himanshu Sagar bt Rakshit Rishi 2-6, 7-6(4), 6-3; Aditya Sharma bt Tejas Kapoor 6-1, 6-2.

U-12: Raghav Mehrotra bt Taha Kapadia 3-6, 6-4, 6-1; K. Metba bt Kunal Punj 6-0, 6-1; Zoram Sanga bt Sachin Kumar 6-1, 6-4; Vanro Mawia bt Abhinav Bisla 6-4, 7-5.

Girls: U-14: Vatsala Pandey bt Tanvee Bose 6-3, 6-0; Karman Kaur bt Jaskiran Dhanoa 6-1, 6-1; Jaya Bhandari bt Sanya Sinha 6-0, 2-6, 6-0.

U-12: Sanya Sinha bt Dhana Swamy 6-2, 6-4; Karman Kaur bt Anupreet Bedi 6-4, 6-4; D. Lalita b Jaskiran Dhanoa 6-4, 6-1; Jaya Bhandari b Jhanvi Gupta 6-3, 7-6(3).
