Thrilling finish in the offing

Chennai: TNCA was 18 runs short of a victory over Hyderabad with two wickets in hand at stumps on the third day of the inter-State South Zone under-22 third round cricket match for the P. Ramachandra Rao Trophy at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, on Wednesday.

Off-spinner R. Ashwin, as has been his wont, was unplayable, finishing with seven second innings wickets for 48 runs.

The off-spinner bowled beautifully throughout, consistently denying the batsmen room.

Avinash 43, Saurabh Bandekar five for 53) & 78 for no loss in 20 overs vs. Goa 151 in 63.1 overs (Yudhishthir Singh 61, Sunil N. Raju four for 36); Kerala 256 in 116.1 overs (C.P. Rizwan 45, Kevin Peter Oscar 51) vs. Andhra 43 for one in 20.1 overs. — Sports Reporter
