Terror suspect got fake certificate

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Allahabad University has confirmed that the graduation certificate used by Atif, who was gunned down in an encounter with the Delhi Police at Batla House, to get admission at Jamia Millia Islamia here had not been issued by it. According to the police, Atif had submitted a B.Sc certificate purportedly issued by Allahabad University, showing him as a student during 2004-07, to get enrolled in a post-graduation human rights course at Jamia.“The Allahabad University authorities have informed us that no such student was enrolled there and so the certificate appears to be forged,” said a police officer.
