Busy times ahead: Collector S. S.Jawahar discussing about the proposed IT Park with a TWAD official at Vadapalanji on Tuesday. MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (TWAD) authorities would soon start work on a water supply project envisaged at an estimated cost of Rs 3.50 crore at the proposed Information Technology (IT) Park at Vadapalanji near Nagamalai Pudukottai, said Collector S. S. Jawahar here on Tuesday. Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi laid the foundation stones for establishing IT Park at Vadapalanji and Tidel Park at Elanthaikulam in Madurai district a few months ago. The Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu is the nodal agency for the ambitious projects. To facilitate major IT companies start their construction work, the district administration has been entrusted with the task of providing certain infrastructure facilities. With site clearance being completed by the nodal agency at these IT Parks, the water supply scheme had been devised by the TWAD Board. It had been proposed to draw 4.5 mld (million litres per day) of water from Kochadai facility, officials said. IT companies that had shown interest in setting up office in these sites were expected to start work soon, officials added.
