NEW DELHI: LG Electronics on Tuesday launched energy efficient LCD monitors and announced plans to expand its research and design activities and hire more manpower. It is also looking at hiking the prices of its products after the festive season due to rising input costs. The new feature-rich LCD monitors, that can reduce energy consumption by up to 50 per cent compared to other monitors, are priced between Rs. 11,000 and Rs. 18,000. The latest launches include multi-link monitors and designer series monitors. These monitors will be available from next month onwards. Unveiling the monitors here, LG Electronics India Managing Director Moon B. Shin said the company hoped to increase its market share from 24 per cent to at least 30 per cent in the LCD monitor business in India. Mr. Shin said they would invest $50 million to enhance its manpower and strengthen its R&D activities in India by 2009.
