TIRUCHI: Tamil Nadu NCC Directorate, comprising Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Andaman Nicobar, won the overall championship trophy at the Thal Sainik Camp (Girls) held at New Delhi recently. Girl cadets of 17 directorates across the country took part in the all-India camp which was held from September 22 to October 3. The camp featured competitions in firing, obstacle course, map reading, tent pitching, line area and health and hygiene. Of the 40 cadets from the Tamil Nadu NCC Directorate who participated in the camp, 13 of them were from the 4 TN Girls Battalion NCC, Tiruchi. The team also bagged gold medals in map reading, silver medals in obstacle course and line area competitions. Cadet L. Parameswari of 9 TN Battalion NCC, Karaikudi bagged the third prize in obstacle course clocking a timing of 35 seconds, a press release issued by the Commanding Officer, 4 TN Girls Battalion NCC, Tiruchi, Lt.Col. Sanjay Anand said.
