“Quality vital for success”

Staff Reporter

MADURAI: Quality of a product is the first and foremost “business mantra” for success. The customer should be treated as equal to God and the quality of product given to him should be on a par with those offered to God, Managing Director of Idhayam group V.R. Muthu said here on Friday.

Addressing ‘Star Trek - a CEO Connect Session’ organised by the Madurai Zone of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), he said that customer satisfaction should be the ultimate “prasad” for any entrepreneur.

Tracing the growth of ‘Idhayam Group,’ he said that when broadcast in Tamil language commenced in Tamil Nadu in Doordarshan, the oil group launched a hugely popular advertisement campaign which fuelled the product’s success.

“Advertisement is important, but quality is more important and should never be sacrificed,” he said, adding that one should never advertise in the absence of quality in their product.

Value addition through innovation was also vital to success. Industries should constantly innovate in order to expand. Growth was also very vital, said Mr. Muthu.

C.K. Ranganathan, Managing Director, Cavin Kare, started off with a quote: “Nobody has money problem. It is ideas that are dearth.”

Manickam Ramaswami, Chairman, CII-Tamil Nadu; R. Dinesh, Chairman, and K. S. Bharath, Vice-Chairman, CII, Madurai Zone, spoke.
