Wooden cross destroyed near Mangalore

Staff Correspondent

MANGALORE: Vandals destroyed a wooden cross at Padu Karandady in Bondatila village on the outskirts of Mangalore.

The desecration was discovered by local people on Monday and a complaint has been filed with the Kankanady (Mangalore Rural) police station.

Although there is no church or prayer hall close to the destroyed cross, it has for long served as a signpost for local devotees from the nearby villages. The residents of the villages had to trek several kilometres to reach the Omzoor church that is in the vicinity.
