Chennai to host SAF meets

Chennai: The third South Asian Federation junior athletics meet (under-20) and the first SAF Youth Meet (u-18) will be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on November 7 and 8.

“The event will be Chennai’s first international athletics meet after the SAF Games in 1995,” said W.I. Davaram, President, TN Athletics Association, at a press conference here on Monday. The meet will feature 18 events each in the junior and youth categories.

Three hundred athletes from eight countries — India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka — will participate in the two-day meet, with the host, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka expected to form the majority. — Sports Reporter
