Mukund upset

KOLKATA: Nishant Anthony Rebello defeated eighth seeded S.K. Mukund in straight sets in the only upset of the day as other seeded players cruised through the first round of the Asian under-14 tennis series tournament here on Monday.

Top seeded Vishal Passi, second seeded Abhishek Alla, third seeded Shaikh Abdullah and fourth seeded Nischay Rawal were among those who advanced to the quarterfinals.

In the girls’ section, all of the seeded players earned first round byes.
