Doctors, students go on strike

Staff Correspondent

DAVANGERE: Patients at the C.J. General Hospital here were put to great hardship following a snap strike by junior doctors and postgraduate students against the “high-handedness” of the Superintendent of the hospital.

The junior doctors and the students abstained from work and took out a procession from the hospital to the Deputy Commissioner’s office where they submitted a memorandum seeking action against the Superintendent.

The agitating professionals alleged that the Superintendent, Sheetal Hiregowdar, had manhandled a junior doctor in the labour ward and had abused him for not wearing an apron. They alleged that this was not the first time that he had misbehaved with junior doctors, staff and students. Many such incidents were reported earlier.
