Newborn found abandoned

BANGALORE: A newborn was found abandoned at a Chowdeshwari temple in Puttena Halli near J.P. Nagar in the early hours of Sunday.

Passers-by and archaks of the temple, who saw the baby boy, informed the police. They handed over the baby to the J.P. Nagar police who admitted it to Vani Vilas Hospital. Meanwhile, in another incident, the body of a newborn boy was found in a drain, attached to the KIMS hospital on Sunday. Chamarajapet police said that they are investigating the case.

Arrested

Six persons have been arrested by the Hanumantha Nagar police in connection with the murder of a taxi driver Vinod Kumar (22). Vinod was murdered in Hanumantha Nagar in the city on Friday.

The accused have been identified as Pradeep alias Alilu (22) and his associates whose names were given as Harish, Kencha, Madhu, Raghavendra and Manju.

They were arrested in Bhadravati.

Chain snatched

Three motorcycle-borne men snatched a gold chain of a housewife in Kengeri Satellite Town on Saturday.

According to the Kengeri police, Veena Ramachandra was relieved of her gold chain worth Rs. 20,000 when she was returning home from Venkateshwara Temple around 8.10 p.m.

One of the accused alighted from the motorcycle, snatched the chain and then got on to the motorcycle before fleeing.

The victim Veena was also assaulted.

Two killed

Two persons were killed in road accidents reported in the city on Sunday.

In an accident involving two cars, Ratnamma (35), a resident of Banasawadi Ring Road, who was driving one of the cars, was killed.

The accident occurred in front of CMH Hospital in Indira Nagar around 11.45 a.m. when another car collided with Ratnamma’s car.

The driver of the other car Chandrashekar has been arrested by the Indira Nagar traffic police.

In another accident, which occurred on Davis Road near Frazer Town, a taxi driver was killed.

The dead has been identified as S. Mohan (21), a resident of Bagalur Layout. Mohan died when a goods carrier hit his two-wheeler at around 9.45 a.m., the Fraser Town police said.
