Cook stabbed to death over not serving ‘papad’

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The head cook of an eatery was stabbed to death and three others seriously injured in an altercation with a group of men at Anand Vihar here on Saturday.

One of the accused, Rahul, previously involved in a theft case, has been arrested. His accomplices — Chetram and Sandeep — are registered bad characters of the Gokalpuri police station area and are absconding.

The three reached Zaika Bazar Hotel in Dayanand Vihar around midnight and placed an order. They soon got into a fight with head cook Mohammed Sahid, his colleagues Sheikh Pappu and Jafar over not serving them “papad”.

Violent turn

“The minor altercation took a violent turn when one of them went to the kitchen and stared abusing Sahid. Hotel owner Rajesh Dhingra and his son Mohit tried to calm them down but a fight broke out and the accused attacked the staff with knives and sharp-edged weapons,” said a senior police officer.

Sahid, Pappu, Jafar and Mohit were rushed to Max Hospital where Sahid later succumbed to the injuries. The condition of the three is said to be stable.
