‘No cause for worry over Kumble’
Bangalore: Fielding coach Robin Singh has said Anil Kumble’s sore shoulder is not a cause for worry.
“Anil had a sore shoulder and as a precautionary measure he stayed away for a while,” Robin said here on Sunday evening.
The Indian skipper was conspicuous by his absence when the Indians took the field during the Australian second innings. Kumble however walked in after Ricky Ponting’s dismissal in the 23rd over.
Robin also allayed fears over Kumble’s probable absence in the next few Tests.
“Yes he is (available) and he will be part of the Tests, just to reassure you,” Robin said. However, when asked whether a scan was taken, Robin said: “It is not part of my jurisdiction, you got to ask the physio.”
Robin then asked the Indian team’s logistics manager Russell Radhakrishnan, who also doubles up as a link with the media, to step in. “He bowled in the afternoon. You saw him bowl, right ? So that’s it,” Russell said, concluding the press conference.
