Let Hyderabad be the common capital

Andhra State came into existence in 1953 after a prolonged struggle on the basis of linguistic states. On November 1, 1956, it became ‘Visalandhra’ (Andhra Pradesh) following the SRC report with the merger of ten districts of Telangana. The capital from Kurnool was shifted to Hyderabad. Through all these 52 years, coastal Andhra had put its money to make Hyderabad a great city. It would, therefore, be appropriate if Hyderabad remains the common capital for Telangana and Andhra after the two are separated like in the case of Punjab and Haryana for which Chandigarh is the common capital. Otherwise, the entire issue should be buried.

Organise tutoring industry

The tutoring industry in India is expanding day by day. The format for education in India is undergoing a major change. Realising the trend, many entrepreneurs are coming forward with creative solutions to improve the sector. In the tutorial classes, the teachers identify the students’ weak and strong points and address them. Unfortunately, the tuition sector is unorganised and most of the tutorial classes are conducted in homes. The tutors have no social security either. In the interest of all they should constitute a forum where they can prepare a syllabus for betterment of students.

Avoidable tragedy

It is unfortunate that a boy died recently as traffic was stopped for Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s convoy. One wonders if the Chief Minister was aware of such happenings. It is for the first time a death of this sort was reported. The police should have used their sense of humanity and allowed the vehicle carrying the boy in serious condition to the hospital for which they would have won accolades.

Regulate traffic

Though certain main roads to the market were widened in Vizianagaram, poor traffic regulations are causing chaos. Except at Mayuri, there is no traffic constable or signal lights at other junctions. Autos deliberately violate one-way rule causing accidents. Further, the main road connecting the Clock Tower and Three Lanterns junction is occupied by hawkers. The police should enforce discipline.
