Who is responsible? Sewage stagnating at the empty plots near the Ragavendra Temple in Paanakara Street, 3rd Cross in Krishnagiri on Sunday. KRISHNAGIRI: As many as 1000 middle-class families living in ward 21 in Paanakara Street, 3rd Cross, in Krishnagiri suffer due to the lack of basic amenities. There is neither safe drinking water nor a proper drainage. Most of the vacant land in this ward is stagnated with sewage water and is a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Municipal authorities have not responded to our pleas, the residents complain. Their request to the authorities to improve the civic facilities such as construction of drainage channels, laying of roads, drinking water connection etc. has fallen on deaf ears, they added. Since our area happened to be at the tail end of Paanakara Street, the authorities did not pay much attention to our grievances. Whereas nearby areas coming under the Kittampatti Panchayat has cement roads and other basic infrastructure, they said. Anyone who wants to visit the Ragavendra Temple here has to go through a lot of hardship as the condition of the roads here are bad. The residents demand that the Muncipal authorities should take measures to provide them with basic amenities.
