Canonisation celebrated

Kozhikode: Special prayers and rallies were held in institutions in Thamarassery diocese to celebrate the canonisation of Blessed Alphonsa of Bharananganam on Sunday. Celebrations were held at churches at Manjakunnu, Valiakolli, Perinthalmanna, Peedikapara, Thottumuzhy, Kakkavayal and Shanti Nagar in the district.

A diocese-level programme, to be attended by the bishops of dioceses in North Kerala, has been arranged on October 31 at Pulloorampara. Cardinal Mar Varkey Vithayathil will inaugurate a public convention as part of the programme. C Maryamma, who had been with Blessed Alphonsa, will be a special guest.
