KOCHI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani will inaugurate the ‘prakshobha yatra’ (protest rally) of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in Kasaragod on Monday. The rally, to be led by BJYM leader K. Surendran, will reach Thiruvananthapuram on October 28. At a press conference here on Sunday, BJYM State general secretary V.K. Sajeevan said the rally would highlight the Central and State government’s lapses. Corruption, vote-bank politics, appeasement of communities, extremism and unemployment would be among the issues to be highlighted. He alleged that Kerala had become a haven for extremist activities. Central security agencies had reported the involvement of several Keralites in the recent incidents of bomb blasts in many parts of the country. Several political leaders were supporting extremists to corner financial benefits. Kerala had become a fertile land for conducting extremist camps, storing arms and indulging in counterfeit currency deals, he said. Fake communalism was the bane of the State. The move to provide benefits to students on the basis of their religion would breed social conflict. Under the new dispensation, affluent sections would be able to corner scholarships for their wards on the basis of false income certificates while the poor would be kept at bay.
