Jwala in line for double
Sofia: Indian shuttler Jwala Gutta has the chance to clinch a double crown after reaching the women’s doubles and mixed doubles finals at the KLRC Bulgarian Grand Prix here on Saturday.
Jwala, who along with V. Diju won the Bitburger Open recently, moved closer to clinching their second successive mixed doubles crown when they defeated sixth-seeded Wijaya Rendra and Meiliana Jauhari of Indonesia 21-14, 17-21, 21-17 in the semifinals.
Jwala later teamed up with Shruti Kurian in the women’s doubles to upset Russian top seeds Valeri Sorokina and Nina Vislova 15-21, 22-20, 21-15 and set up a title clash with Indonesian second seeds Puspa and Meiliana. — PTI
