Residents protest against delay in supply of LPG cylinders

Staff Reporter

They alleged that cylinders were being sold illegally

CHENNAI: A group of residents protested on N.S.C Bose Road on Saturday, citing a delay in supply of LPG cylinders by a distributor of a national oil company in the area.

Most of the protesters complained that they were not receiving the cylinders on time after booking, alleging that the cylinders were being sold illegally.

The distributor, however, denied all charges saying that a genuine delay in supply had caused the problem. He also said that some customers, who wanted to jump the line to get their cylinder first, were creating unnecessary trouble.

Police personnel came to the spot and pacified the protestors. They told them not to resort to agitation but lodge a formal compliant with the IOC dealer. When contacted, a senior officer with the IOC said that no customer from Sowcarpet area had lodged any complaint.
