Man held for damaging glass panel at church

CHENNAI: A 41-year-old man, who reportedly damaged the glass panel of the wayside pulpit of the CSI Emmanuel Church in Anna Nagar West, was arrested by the Thirumangalam police on Saturday.

Police said Yesuraja, of Hamsa Nagar in Tiruvallur, was employed as watchman of the church. He was sacked in November 2006. Irked over the termination, Yesuraja, on Friday morning, pelted stones and damaged the glass panel of the church, the police said. Following a complaint lodged by the church authorities, the police arrested Yesuraja . He was later sent to the Puzhal Prison.
