800 delegates for Ayurveda seminar

Kochi: Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala will organise a seminar on Ayurveda here on Sunday.

At a press conference, P.M. Varier, additional chief physician and chief superintendent, Ayurvedic Hospital and Research Centre, owned by the Arya Vaidya Sala (AVS), said that it was the 45th seminar being organised by the AVS. The topic of the seminar would be “Snehaswedangal”. It referred to preparatory procedures being made before doing a formal Panchakarma. Over 800 delegates including Ayurvedic doctors and students were expected to participate in the seminar. Papers would be presented at the seminar by experts.

He said the seminar would be inaugurated by Mercy Williams, Mayor, Kochi Corporation. P.K. Warrier, managing trustee and chief physician, AVS, will preside over the seminar. G.S. Raju of Thiruvananthapuram will deliver the keynote address on Ayurvedic Hospital management.

Hospital at Alappuzha

The chief superintendent said that the Rs.145-crore Arya Vaidya Sala (AVS) has hospitals at Kottakkal in Malappuram district, Kochi and Delhi. The AVS was setting up a ‘Peripheral Hospital’ at Arattupuzha village in Alappuhza district for the benefits of the people hit by the tsunami. K. Muraleedharan and T.S. Murali, superintendent and chief, technical services respectively of the AVS, were also present at the press meet.
