NCC Naval Wing officers pass out

Staff Reporter

Kochi: Fifty-two Associate National Cadet Corps (NCC) officers were commissioned into the Naval Wing at a colourful passing-out ceremony held at Seamanship school, Naval Base, here on Saturday. The parade gained special significance as it witnessed, for the first time, the induction of Lady Associate NCC Officers, four of them, from Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab and Rajasthan. Commodore V.R. Nathan, regional director, Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), who was the chief guest, reviewed the parade. A large number of senior military officers and civilian dignitaries witnessed the function.

Trainees were taught ship modelling and swimming. Practical boat pulling and sailing sessions were held during the course.

The course was conducted by a naval training team led by Commander P.K. Sudhakaran. The officers who passed out now would now join their respective institutions and impart NCC training to cadets.
