SHIMOGA: Under the banner of the State Forest Department Daily Wage Workers’ Association, Kavadis have threatened to boycott “Aane Utsav” (elephant festival) being organised by the Forest Department as part of 54th Wildlife Week at Sakrebylu near here on Sunday in which the Chief Minister will take part. In a statement issued here on Saturday, association president A.M. Nagaraj said that he had asked the kavadis not to participate in the function as the State Government did not release their salary for the past seven months. He said that the officials had threatened them that they would lose their job if they did not take part in the function.
