JCT posts win

Ludhiana: Scoring once in each-half, JCT defeated Mohammedan Sporting 2-0 in the third round of the ONGC 1-league football at the Guru Nanak Stadium, here on Saturday.

With this victory, JCT took its tally to seven points and climbed to the second place after three matches, while the visitor slipped to ninth place with just one point from as many matches.

JCT opened the account following a strike by Baljit Sahni a few seconds before half-time. Brazilian forward Eduardo Da Silva doubled the lead in the 66th minute.

Sporting Clube scores

At Margao, a goal in each half helped Sporting Clube de Goa defeat Mohun Bagan 2-0.

The hosts scored through Man of the Match Wilton Gomes (25th) and substitute Nathaniel Amos (47th).

The win, its third in-a-row, kept Sporting Clube at the top of the table with nine points from three matches, while Bagan, which suffered its second defeat, has one point. — PTI
