BANGALORE: Jacqueline Rose Kunnath from Group A and Uttara Prakash from Group B entered the girls’ singles semifinals of the State junior masters invitation badminton tournament here on Saturday. Both players posted two wins apiece in their respective groups. The top eight players in the junior boys’ section and six in the junior girls’ section play the prize money event. The results: Boys: Group A: Prateek Khurana bt Prakash Jolly 21-12, 21-17. Girls: Group A: Jacqueline Rose Kunnath bt Reshma Karthik 21-8, 21-4; Anagha Unni bt Reshma 21-12, 21-14; Jacqueline bt Anagha 21-18, 21-16. Group B: Uttara Prakash bt Poorvisha S. Ram 21-13, 21-17; Uttara bt Apoorva J. 21-16, 21-12; Poorvisha bt Apoorva 16-21, 21-8, 21-16. FelicitatedThe Karnataka State Cricket Association felicitated the quartet of Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid, Venkatesh Prasad and Robin Uthappa in a simple function at the Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Saturday morning. KSCA secretary Brijesh Patel and other officials honoured Kumble for 600 Test wickets, Dravid for the 10000 double in Tests and ODIs, Prasad for being the Indian team’s bowling coach and Uthappa for being part of the victorious T20 World Cup winning team. BPCL-IOCL finalBPCL and IOCL set themselves up for a grand final of the State Super Division league hockey championship honours. On the penultimate day (Saturday) at the SA South Centre here, BPCL humbled a depleted Fortis 4-2 while IOCL trounced PCTC 8-1 and are now tied on 22 points each, though IOCL enjoys a better goal difference. While IOCL has 34 for and eight against for a plus-26 difference, BPCL enjoys just a plus-18 difference (29-11). In the day’s third match, Karnataka State Police (KSP) humbled ASC to add three more points with its third win. ASC bring up the bottom with two points to its credit in eight outings. Gurpreet shinesBPCL took time to find its bearings and forged ahead only in the 20th minute with Gurpreet Singh finding the mark. Ravipal (26th) and Amar Aiyamma (44th) added to the tally after Banmali had levelled scores for Fortis in the 24th. Sandeep Michael goal in the 52nd for Fortis did bring the match to life (2-3) but Gurpreet blasted home his second of the match to put the issue beyond the resurgent Fortis side. IOCL was all over the PCTC half and scored at will to put up a healthy goal difference in case of a tie against BPCL. Penalty corner specialist V.R. Raghunath (second and 47th), Deepak (17th and 57th), Prabhjot Singh (19th and 41st), Rajpal Singh (52nd) and Hamsa Mujtabha (59th) swelled the tally for the IOCL outfit while S.P. Kujur struck a late consolation goal for PCTC. In the first match, Mahesh and a brace by Umesh Mudgar sealed a 3-1 win for State Cops, though Deepu did pull one back for the wooden spoonists ASC. BPAK tournamentThe newly-formed Basketball Players Association of Karnataka (BPAK) announced its inaugural event, an inter-Collegiate basketball tournament for men and women at the J.P.
