Mumbai: The IPL Drug Tribunal has decided to adjourn the hearing of the Mohammad Asif case by a month. For nearly six hours, the Pakistani seamer, along with lawyer Shahid Karim and sports medicine expert Michael Graham appeared before the tribunal — comprising legal counsel Shishir Gupte, medical expert Dr. Ravi Bapat and Sunil Gavaskar — at the Cricket Centre here on Saturday. Asif argued that the IPL Tribunal had no right to prosecute him and that there was another institution to deal with such matters. The second hearing will probably take place on November 11. Asif has been suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) from all cricket after it was announced first that he had tested positive for a banned substance during the DLF-IPL competition in May-June early this year. “We have heard the matter at the interim stage. Asif’s lawyer Shahid Karim raised objections on the maintainability of the case. The recordings of the evidences of the witnesses would start after four weeks, probably after November 11 when the adjourned hearing would take place. I have reserved passing an order on the objections raised by Asif’s lawyer. I will pass the order in about three or four days.” — Special Correspondent
