Police “excesses” condemned

CHENNAI: Condemning the recent police “excesses” against two communities at Uthapuram in Madurai district, the Puthiya Thamizhagam will lead a delegation, comprising members of major political parties from the State, to restore peace in the village.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, PT president K. Krishnasamy blamed the Communist Party of India (Marxist) for the communal flare-up involving two groups. “What we need is communal harmony and peace in Uthapuram village,” he said. — Special Correspondent
