Jalandhar: The ruling Shiromani Akali Dal on Saturday revived its demand for transfer of Chandigarh, the joint-capital of Punjab and Haryana, to the State with party president Sukhbir Singh Badal saying that the issue will be taken up if NDA returns to power at the Centre. “The issue (transfer of Union Territory to Punjab) is very much in the priority list of SAD and accordingly it will be taken up if NDA comes to power,” Mr. Badal told reporters. About land acquisition in the State, he said after SAD-BJP alliance came to power, more than 7,000 acres were acquired. -- PTI
