KOZHIKODE: The Malabar Chamber of Commerce has said that the only solution to the travel woes of the people of Malabar is the electrification of the Shoranur-Mangalore railway line. The chamber said in a press release here on Saturday that though 95 per cent of the line had been doubled, the difficulties in rail travel had increased. These could be solved by electrification. The chamber said that there was no justification for this because electrification of even single lines with fewer passengers had been done earlier. Mainline electrical multiple units could be run on the Kannur-Kozhikode-Tirur route if the electrification was done.
