City doctor honoured

VISAKHAPATNAM: City-based physician Kutikupala Surya Rao was honoured with the prestigious Silver Jubilee Oration of the Institute of Venereology of Madras University during Indian Association for the Study of STD and AIDS and AIDS National Conference (ASTICON- 2008) at Kodaikanal last week.

An eminent physician, who makes a significant contribution in the areas of STD and AIDS nationally/internationally, is selected by the jury for the oration and this year Dr. Surya Rao was selected for this honour.

Dr. Rao addressed the conference with an advanced research topic on `CCR5 inhibitors: Emerging promising HIV therapeutic strategy.’ Prof V.K. Jain, Chair Scientific Committee, presented the medal and Prof. Usha Gupta, Co-Chair of the Scientific Committee, presented the certificate of excellence to him.
