Bid to rescue 2-year-old still on
Atiq Khan
LUCKNOW: Efforts to rescue two-year-old Sonu, who fell into a 150-foot borewell at Lahrapura village in Agra district, gained momentum on Friday. Additional Director-General of Police (Law and Order) Brij Lal told journalists here that police and Army personnel had dug a 55-foot side tunnel to retrieve the child, who fell into the dry borewell around 9.45 a.m. on Thursday. Oxygen was being supplied through the main borewell. Medical teams had been pressed into service.
Till Friday morning rescue operations were being conducted with earth-digging machines. But this exercise had to be abandoned as there was not enough space for the machines to manoeuvre.
