Cracker lorry gutted

TIRUPATTUR: A lorry carrying crackers from Sivakasi to shops at Tirupattur, Jolarpet and Vellore was destroyed in a fire at Kumarapatty coming under the Koratty Panchayat near Tirupattur on Friday.

The total loss was put at Rs.10 lakh. The lorry was heading towards Tirupattur on the Salem National Highways Road. The driver said that his licence, a copy of the vehicle’s registration book and a sum of Rs.1,500 were also destroyed in the fire.
