CHENNAI: The Virugambakkam police on Friday arrested a 23-year-old youth Mohammed Abdullah of Aynavaram for allegedly stealing a car from Natesan Nagar, Virugambakkam on Wednesday. The car was also recovered from him . According to police, Durai, owner of a Tata Indica car, had lodged a complaint on Wednesday that the car parked in front of his house was missing. Enquiries with Durai showed that a youth had repeatedly come to his house asking for a job as driver. On Wednesday night Durai had parked his car outside his house. That night, the accused, a car driver by occupation, had made duplicate keys for the car. He confessed to the police that he stole the car because he wanted to take his girlfriend to Mahabalipuram. On Thursday, he parked the stolen vehicle in his sister’s house in Virugambakkam On Friday, police stopped him for vehicle inspection near a check-post. As his answers were unsatisfactory he was brought to the police station. During further questioning, the youth confessed to having stolen the car.
