Meenakshi Reddy Madhavan Bangalore: The audience said it all. Many starry-eyed girls sat in slack-jawed admiration as they watched their favourite blogger read excerpts from her debut novel “You Are Here”, at Reliance Timeout on Friday. The book, published by Penguin and already launched in Delhi and Mumbai, found a whole new set of fans here. Needless to say, they have been following The Compulsive Confessor on her blog for a while now. Meenakshi Reddy Madhavan (26), blogger and now writer, narrates the life of 25-year-old Arshi, — in first person — tracing her way through the “innumerable entanglements” of her urban life. “This book was meant to represent our life and times — people like you and I — who have been born and brought up in the city and those whose first language is English,” said Ms. Madhavan. Ms. Madhavan read about Arshi’s lying-cheating boyfriend Cheeto and about her hateful PR job, carefully choosing the excerpts. As the floor was open to questions, a rather silent and somewhat sleepy audience suddenly asked questions ranging from how to be a writer to why Ms. Madhavan chose to write in the first person, not exactly drawing any insight into the many layers of a book that represents a different genre in itself. Talking about her other projects, Ms. Madhavan said she would continue to write for as long as she could, and it seems her blog is not going anywhere either.
