Court dismisses appeal

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Friday dismissed an appeal by a primary school questioning the action of the Education Department in derecognising it for failing to adhere to the State policy on the medium of instruction.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice P.D. Dinakaran and Justice Mohan Shantanagouder passed the order on an appeal by Gangabhavani Rural Education and Multipurpose Trust, Harkal, Kolar.

The trust had challenged the order of the Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) of November 30, 2006 in withdrawing recognition to the school.

The DDPI had noted that the school run by the trust had violated the State policy on medium of instruction.
