Prabhu, Ashwin shine in TN’s win

CHENNAI: Off-spinners M. Prabhu (five for 62) and R. Ashwin (four for 68) bowled TNCA to a 179-run win over Kerala on the fourth and final day of a second-round South Zone under-22 four-day cricket match for the P. Ramachandra Rao Trophy.

In another contest, KSCA had to be content with three points for the first-innings lead, after Hyderabad, set a target of 415 in a little over three sessions of play, hung on. Akshat Reddy (68), T.S.S. Bharath (60), and Paramveer Singh (86 n.o.) did well to deny KSCA, even taking Hyderabad to within 58 runs of an improbable win.

The scores:

TNCA 206 and 316 for nine decl. bt Kerala 164 and 179 in 70 overs (Raji Lal 41, Praveen Achudhan 65, M. Prabhu five for 62, R. Ashwin four for 68). Points: TNCA 5, Kerala 0.

KSCA 410 and 211 for five decl. drew with Hyderabad 207 and 357 for seven in 105 overs (Akshat Reddy 68, T.S.S. Bharath 60, Paramveer Singh 86 n.o., Ninash Geberial 41). Points: KSCA 3, Hyderabad 1.
