Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Friday directed the administration in violence-hit Udalguri and Darrang districts to prepare a long-term action plan to ensure permanent peace there. Mr. Gogoi also ordered a probe into the clashes between Bodos and immigrant Muslim settlers. He said no one would be spared and if any police or government official was found responsible, stern action would be taken against him too. During his visit to Udalguri distrct for the second consecutive day, Mr. Gogoi asked the administration to form committees comprising village headmen, village defence parties and government officials so that the affected farmers in relief camps could go to their fields for paddy harvesting. The Chief Minister held a review meeting at the Udalguri Circuit House. It was attended by Bodoland Territorial Council chief Hagrma Mahillary, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Chandan Brahma, senior Bodo leader and Kokrajhar MP S.K. Bwiswmuthiary, high officials of the Army, the BSF, the Assam Police and the CRPF, and district heads of government departments.
