BANGALORE: Negligence and ignorance are contributing to the vanishing of ancient manuscripts, which are a storehouse of knowledge, Nadoja G. Narayana, former president of the Kannada Book Authority, said here on Thursday. He was inaugurating the annual exhibition of manuscripts, organised by the B.M. Sri Smaraka Pratishtana here on Wednesday. Of 3,000 manuscripts that the foundation had painfully collected, a few dating back to centuries, had been displayed on the pratishtana premises. The 70-leafed, “talegaris” manuscript of Sabhaparva in Mahabharata, Veda Sutras, Jain Manuscripts, “Bhoorja patra” of Northern Indian origin, and “Shanubhogara Kadata” were some of the manuscripts exhibited. The exhibition concluded on Friday. Mr. Narayana said that ancient manuscripts were an asset of the land.
