Curbs for Datta Jayanti

Correspondent

CHIKMAGALUR: The district administration has decided to allow the Hindutva organisations to offer prayers to an idol of Dattatreya outside the fenced core area of Datta Peeta at Bababudangiri.

Deputy Commissioner R. Narayanaswamy told presspersons here on Friday that the Hindutva organisations could carry an idol of Dattatreya and the authorities would provide an idol of Ganesha to others.

He ruled out the possibility of allowing devotees inside the shrine for security reasons and as the roof of the shrine had caved in.

Sri Rama sena will conduct the Dattamala Abhiyana at Bababudangiri on October 13 and 14.
