Fire and Rescue Services personnel during the ‘rescue’ operation on Thursday. — CHENNAI: Fire and Rescue Services personnel conducted a search for over nine hours in the Mylapore temple tank for a man who allegedly jumped into the water on Thursday around 8.30 a.m. Yet to be tracedThe team of eight divers with rescue equipment, who conducted the operation, did not find the man. Police suspected that someone could have given wrong information. Man seen leaping into tankPolice sources said that it all began after a commuter in an MTC bus passing near the temple tank allegedly saw a man leap into the water. The watchman reportedly saw a bald head popping out of the water thrice. The tank remains closed for most part of the year. Police were alerted and two fire tenders from Mylapore reached the spot. Divers with a rescue boat geared with giant hooks and fishing net searched for the missing man till 6 p.m. Police personnel were deployed near the tank all through the night.
