Held for attacking policeman

THENI: Sottaiyan alias Pandi (38) was arrested on the charges of attacking Gurusamy (45), a Head Constable attached with Allinagaram police station, here on Thursday evening.

The police said the accused assaulted Gurusamy, who tried to prevent him from using unparliamentary words at the Allinagararm bus stand.

In a fit of anger, he suddenly attacked the cop with iron rod and repeatedly hit him.

On information, other policemen in Allinagaram police station rushed to the spot and rescued the wounded cop. A case has been registered in this connection.
