Kerala XI in command

VIJAYAWADA: Abhishek Mohan’s all-round performance (61 runs and three for 27) put Kerala XI on the driver’s seat against Andhra XI in the three-day under-16 practice match at Siddhartha Medical College grounds here on Thursday.

In reply to Andhra XI’s 234, Kerala XI made 253 and restricted Andhra XI to 85 for five in the second innings at the close of the second day’s play.

The scores: Andhra XI 234 in 70.3 overs (K. Bharath 73, Bharani 48, K. Murali 45, Rahul Krishnan six for 48) and 85 for five in 21.3 overs (Abhishek Mohan three for 27) vs. Kerala XI 253 in 80.2 overs (Abhishek Mohan 61).

Syam Sundar to lead

Vizag’s G. Syam Sundar will lead the Andhra Cricket Association’s under-14 team in the South Zone inter-State tournament for 2008-09.

TT tournament

Vijayawada will host the 70th sub-junior National table tennis tournament for boys and girls at Dandamudi Rajagopala Rao municipal indoor stadium from November 24 to 30.

Krishna gymnasts shine

Krishna District’s sub-junior boys and girls teams finished third in the team championships in the 24th AP State gymnastics championship that concluded at Hanumakonda (Warangal) on October 6. Krishna took the second place both in the junior girls’ and boys’ segments.
