AIADMK cadres stage demo

VILLUPURAM: About 2,000 cadres of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam staged a demonstration near the old bus stand here on Thursday, condemning frequent power cuts.
They were led by Thalavai Sundaram and C.Ve. Shanmugham, former Ministers. The speakers said the power cut schedule remained only on paper and in reality, Villupuram was experiencing 20-hour power cut a day.
People were facing a lot of hardship and sugarcane crops on 1,200 acres were withering as water could not be pumped, they said.
The rice mills too suffered paddy could not be milled and the rice prices had gone up abnormally.
