VIJAYAWADA: Andhra won both the boys and girls’ titles of the 28th sub-junior ball badminton championship that concluded at Khaital (Haryana), according to information reaching here on Tuesday. Andhra boys defeated Hyderabad 29-19, 29-12 while Andhra girls outplayed Tamil Nadu 29-19, 29-11 in the finals. Four players from Andhra — Saheena Sultana (Vijayawada), K. Nagalakshmi (Anantapur), Kondal Rao (Vijayawada) and Wasim Akram (Chittoor) were given best player awards. Chittoor to hostChittoor District’s Punganoor mandal will host the senior inter-district volleyball championship in the month of November, while Khammam will stage the junior inter-district championship in December, according to Andhra Pradesh Volleyball Association president A. Ramana Rao here on Tuesday. The sub-junior inter-district championship will be held at Warangal in November and mini inter-district will be held at Narsapur in Medak district from October 20 to 24. Krishna does wellKrishna won the boys and girls’ titles of the AP State School Games Federation u-19 table tennis championships in progress at Khammam on Tuesday. Krishna blanked Hyderabad 3-0 in the boys’ final and outplayed West Godavari 3-0 in the girls’ final.
