CEC in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Chief Election Commissioner N. Gopalaswami and Election Commissioners S.Y. Qureshi and Navin Chawla arrived here on a two-day visit to Kashmir to assess the security and political situation for the Assembly poll.

They held detailed meetings with Governor N.N. Vohra. Sources said Mr. Vohra briefed them about the situation in the State and gave them an overview of the developments taking place in the backdrop of the recent protest. The Commission will hold meetings with political parties on Wednesday.
